Double Dog Dare

I double dog dare any liberal or progressive to quote a section of the Constitution that supports the lib/progressive thought that "I am my brother's keeper" as Candidate Obama proclaimed in his DNC acceptance speech.

  1. Rich, I know what you're getting at, and while the words "I am my brother's keeper" aren't in the Constitution, there's this:

    "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

  2. How is that anything close to "I AM my brother's keeper...."?? Or the implied equivalent, "It's government's RESPONSIBILITY to take care of everyone..."??

    PROMOTE does not equal PROVIDE FOR nor is it as strong as SECURE, nor INSURE, nor ESTABLISH.

    They knew what they were writting. If they meant it to be government's job they would have said so.

    Instead they wrote "promote" as if government were merely the cheerleaders assiting, helping and supporting, but not actually responsible for the general welfare.

    Make sense?
